Admittedly, self improvement as a means for achieving business success is something many small online businesses tend to avoid. If you are wondering what you could do, then take a look at your behaviors that are not the most positive in nature. People everywhere do things that create or contribute to their problems and issues in life. This is something that is part of all human behavior, so do not think you are the only person who does it. What happens is you are creating inner conflict, unknowingly, and your deepest beliefs are not in accordance with your conscious actions. The only problem is your deepest beliefs will win. But all is not lost by any means because you can learn to make the two minds get along better than they currently do.

A high percentage of people, whether engaged in business or not, suffer from all manner of procrastination. Fear seems to be at the root of most procrastination. Fear of success, fear of failure, fear of making a mistake, fear of looking like an idiot - the list goes on and on. But in fairness, there can be other legitimate reasons. To illustrate, if you are faced with a project and you are not sure how to proceed, or you just don't want to do it, you may be guilty of procrastination.

If there is a task - whether it's a one-off or something you face daily - and you constantly cannot seem to move forward with it, then you need to take a time-out and give it some space. Take a good, long and hard look at how you feel about what ever you are not doing. It make take a while for the reasons to surface, but persevere. Something is responsible for your procrastination and it's necessary that you discover the source.

It's only natural to prefer things to be as we want them to be. The real world isn't always to our liking. Sometimes, we can become discouraged and even want to just give up. "Every cloud has a silver lining" is a good motto to keep in mind. Look for the silver lining when something happens that's not the way you would have it. In order to be a flourishing business person, objectivity is an important factor. Our method for realistically interpreting what is going on with our businesses is based upon our being willing to recognize and accept the truth. If you truly listen to what's going on in your head, it may help you see your situation in a new, clearer light. It's our opinion that when someone is spending their time wishful thinking, they know exactly what they are doing. Being objective about your business is the secret. Subjective thinking will not move you forward.

Avoid thinking that sabotaged efforts seen in your business do not extend beyond that arena. If you find that you are very hard on your self, then that is something to pay attention to. Sometimes it seems that writers can suffer from that in an insidious way. Those who are highly self critical often exhibit the behaviors of perfectionism. If you are like this, do you think that people who had an effect on you when growing up tended to be like that, as well? If you already understand and know you are too critical toward your self, then that is a good starting point.
